Year 2 100 Days of School

100 Days of School
During the 2nd week of this term, the year 2 classes celebrated 100 days of school through both Literacy and Numeracy activities.
We started off the celebrations with reading the story book” 100 Hungry Ants” by Elinor Pinczes. It is about 100 ants which march towards a picnic and argue about the quickest way to get there, forming arrays to make 100 – 1 line of 100, 2 lines of 50, 4 lines of 25, 5 lines of 20 and 10 lines of 10.
We then worked in groups to reproduce the arrays of 100 hungry ants.

The next day we participated in rotational activities amongst all 4 year 2 classes. Mrs Edgar had us first estimating how far 100 steps would take us and then we carefully measured to get an accurate result.

Connect Three with Mrs Page!

Connect Three is a game we played in Mrs Page's class today that helped us with our calculations. It's really important to know our tables to the point of automaticity and this is a great game that helped us to develop our fluency.
